Good for the environment and your wallet!
When you invest in a new truck today, it is likely to be the cleanest and most fuel efficient diesel engine that has ever been produced.. Why not utilise it!!
If you use the truck engine to power for the refrigeration unit, it has less environmental impact and reduces fuel consumption. The latest standard truck engines (Euro6) produce extremely low PMg & NOx, which reduces your overall C02 emissions.
To add an additional diesel engine for refrigeration of a low industry standard to a highly efficient truck engine cancels out the benefits you gain from the technology and increases your environmental impact as well as increases costs.
Industrial diesel engines for refrigeration do not have to comply to the same environmental standard as a truck engine so are far less efficient. The operational costs on fuel and service are also increased with two engines.
